It’s amazing that after all this we’ve ended up in a tie, but it really goes to show that every vote matters. We’re looking forward to the recount results.
Right now we are in a holding pattern, while the Division of Elections works through the process of investigating one ballot that so far hasn’t been counted. As far as we can tell, it’s a valid ballot that just was not put through the optical scanner on election night, but that shouldn’t prevent it from being counted in the recount.
Based on what we know now, we expect the ballot to be counted, and we’re just waiting for the division to finish its process and hopefully confirm that.
Observing this process has given me a lot of confidence in our voting system, and the most important thing is that the state is able to make the right call on the ballot and ensure that every legal vote is counted.
We continue to support the workers and the process, and thank the community for their support.
As your Representative I will work closely with community members, legislators and the governor to ensure that we maximize opportunities for economic growth, job opportunities and long-term fiscal responsibility.
